What the... ? I'm not a Canadian. To be honest I'm not even interested in politics here where I live, because most of the people who get elected try to make a lot of fortune. But the problem is, if there are too many who are not interested in politics then those who are for something bad could win.

Political science, politics, or government isn't that fascinating to me. Honestly, I don't even care for elections. I'll leave voting to the retiring generation.

You know, you really shouldn't think that way. These people are going to be making important decisions and those decisions will inevitably affect your day to day right. By voting you help put into office someone who will represent your beliefs, and how you'd like to see things done. If only the retiring generation voted, then we'd only see the interests of the retiring generation being addressed. Razz

I see your point but you have to remember that the only way to get your independent point across is to either form an interest group or join one that has a large representation which is why there are so many political parties. If you look at the United States government, the only way "people" are getting their beliefs across is by throwing money at the delegates. That's about the only reason why Obama or Clinton or any politician has so much money; it's because large businesses and interest groups are supporting them. Honestly, no one is going to listen to one person with $100 for support over 1000 people with $100,000 for support. It's true that majoritairism is great where everyone's voice is heard equally but the truth is that politics is all pluralistic. One of the framers of the US constitution, James Madison, wrote in the Federalist Papers # 10 that factions (interest groups) are dangerous but inevitable and that the only way to control the dangers is to control their effects.
