Battleship NJ BB62 lays off staff after subsidy is cut

I remember watching the Battleship BB62 making it way up Delaware
Bay in November 1999 alongside was the SS Cape May Ferry on
board was ex Governor Christine Whitman making the 117 mile
trek towards the future Battleship NJ BB62 museum and slip.
The price of fuel for the ferry trip was $10000 thousand dollars
not including party favors. The donations towards the battleships
museum included snack bar and walkon tours.
I always thought it was a waste of diesel fuel for the Cape May Ferry
to sail alongside the Battleship BB62 . The CoastGuard could have
taken the Governor but someone wanted a grand time of the event.
So next time you visit the museum ask the people who run it why
it cost so much for the tours when politicians got in for free.
